Rabat – After years of anticipation, Cardi B has confirmed the release of her second album, “Am I the Drama?” – set to arrive on September 19. This marks the return of the artist after seven years of her breakthrough debut.
The album will be made of 23 singles including previous hits “Up” and “WAP.” She made the announcement via Instagram late Monday night, unveiling the album’s title, cover art, and a personal video message reflecting on her journey. The album cover features a glamorous image of Cardi B in a sculpted red dress, surrounded by crows—setting the tone for a project that promises intensity, reinvention, and creativity.
In the personal video, Cardi speaks of what inspired her return, stating, “Seven years of love, light and loss… I’m shedding feathers and no more tears. I’m not back, I’m beyond.”
Her message hints at a concept around survival, transformation, and reclaimed power, which are recurring themes in her music and public persona.
The rapper has openly spoken about the delays surrounding the album, hitting at missing collaborations as a main reason. Speaking on instagram recently, she shared that, “I really need these features… I feel like nobody wants to miss being on this album.”
Despite the wait, she declared that she was prepared to record the missing parts herself if needed.
“Outside,” which is the album’s lead single, was released last week. The track is making headlines for its lyrical digs at her estranged husband Offset, as the two continue to navigate a complicated divorce.
In one line, Cardi describes “Good-for-nothing,” highlighting that his mom did not do a good job raising him as a man.
Offset has not publicly responded to the lyrics, although he recently dropped a single titled “Bodies” featuring JID, which does not address the ongoing breakup.
Cardi B’s debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” was a commercial and critical breakthrough, earning her a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and solidifying her as a leading voice in hip hop.
