Rabat – Eid Al Fitr 2023 celebrations will start on Friday, April 21 in Egypt, Dar Al Ifta announced today.
The month of Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan, is on Friday, according to the announcement. The crescent moon sighting committees confirmed the news following the sunset prayers today.
Shawwal is the tenth month in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of Ramadan.
Last week, the Egypt Ministry of Manpower announced that Eid Al Fitr, as well as Sinai Liberation day holidays, will be from Thursday, April 20 to Tuesday, April 25.
Egypt Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that the public sector holiday will be from April 20 to April 25.
Egypt is among the countries that will fast for only 29 days. The others include Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar.
Meanwhile, other countries like Morocco will fast for 30 days for the first time in five years.
Moroccans will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Saturday, April 22.
Muslims celebrate Eid Al Fitr with both religious and cultural traditions. In the morning, Muslims flock to mosques to carry out Eid prayers.
