Rabat – Marrakech ranked as the second best holiday destination for sun around the world, according to a recent report by French travel and tourism operator Club Med.
The report noted that Marrakech experiences an average of 11 hours of sunshine per day during the summer.
The sea temperatures in Marrakech are also the highest in summer, with an average of 21 °C, detailed the report.
The red city came in second with a score of 70.8 out of 100, followed by Goa in India with a score of 70.2 and Faro in Portugal with a score of 67.6.
Meanwhile, Jerusalem took first place with a score of 74.2.
The same report featured Marrakech as the third best destination to visit during spring for sunlight, scoring 71.7 out of 100, with the second lowest precipitation (35) during this season and nine hours of sunlight during spring.
Considered by many to be the heart of Moroccan tourism, Marrakech is no stranger to international recognition. The red city recently featured on Vogue’s list of “best winter sun” destinations for 2023.
Vogue described the Moroccan red-washed city as a “mainstay on lists of the best winter sun destinations, and with good reason.”
