Doha – El Corte Inglés, Spain’s leading department store chain, has launched the ‘Essence of Morocco Crafts Fair’, a unique showcase bringing the best of Moroccan handicrafts to Spain, as reported by El Español.
The fair, which opened its doors on April 30, will be available in several El Corte Inglés centers across the country until June 16, offering visitors the opportunity to acquire authentic, original pieces crafted by Moroccan artisans.
The event is being held in Madrid in the neighborhoods of Castellana, Pozuelo, and Sanchinarro, as well as in Barcelona in Diagonal. The collection also has a debut in Vigo, Murcia, Marbella, Málaga, Alicante, Las Palmas, Tenerife, and Palma de Mallorca. Additionally, interested individuals can explore and purchase the pieces through El Corte Inglés’ website.
The Essence of Morocco Crafts Fair pays homage to the country’s rich cultural heritage, highlighting the diversity and beauty of its craftsmanship. Visitors can find a wide array of handmade items, from carpets and cushions to tablecloths and glassware, as well as tableware, decorative objects and furniture, all crafted using traditional techniques.
Moroccan artisanal techniques are characterized by their precision and beauty, including embroidery from Tetouan and Fez, ceramics from Tamegroute, blown glass in the Le Verre Beldi style, and products made from reed and sabra, the latter being a shiny fabric similar to silk, extracted from natural fibers and subsequently hand-woven.
In addition to home goods, the fair offers an exquisite selection of fashion and accessories, including belts, babouches (traditional Moroccan slippers), caftans, handbags, and costume jewelry, all reflecting the spirit and colors of Morocco.
In the realm of beauty, visitors can purchase soaps and creams made with natural ingredients and traditional Moroccan techniques.
For gastronomy enthusiasts, the fair presents a variety of gourmet products, including tea, spices, and oils – an opportunity to bring a taste of Morocco home.
This initiative not only celebrates Morocco’s rich artisanal tradition but also supports local craftspeople by providing them with an international platform to showcase and sell their work. The event allows Moroccan artisans to preserve their traditions while innovating and adapting to global tastes and trends.
According to the Spanish news outlet, the fair serves as a cultural bridge between the two countries and exemplifies El Corte Inglés’ commitment to promoting cultural diversity and supporting artisanal communities through ethical and sustainable trade.
With its variety of unique, high-quality products, the fair promises to be a must-visit shopping destination for all lovers of culture and art.
