Rabat – Moroccan producer Nadir Khayat, known by his stage name RedOne, took to social media to deny circulating news that he was tasked by Real Madrid to craft a new anthem for Los Blancos.
“I have been astonished by the proliferation, since yesterday, of numerous mass-media and social media disseminating erroneous information,” RedOne wrote on his Instagram story.
He clarified that the post he shared earlier this week, that was a picture of Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, was only to express his gratitude for the opportunity extended to him a decade ago to craft the club’s anthem. He emphasized that the anthem has since become “emblematic of love and adoration for this venerable institution.”
In the post, he described Perez as “the best president ever,” extolling his appreciation.
“Thank you Dear President Don Florentino Perez (the BEST president ever) for believing and giving me the chance to be part of Real Madrid’s history!!! By creating the song that became the theme of ‘El Madridismo’ 10 years ago, for the club of my life,”RedOne said.
Following Real Madrid’s 2014 victory in their tenth Champions League, RedOne produced “Hala Madrid!.. Y nada mas,” which subsequently became the club’s modern popular anthem.
The producer is no stranger to the world of football. In 2006, he debuted in football anthems with “Bamboo,” the designated official song of the FIFA World Cup.
In 2021, he was appointed FIFA’s Executive Director of Entertainment and produced two official songs for the 2022 World Cup, “Haya Haya” and “Arhbo.”
RedOne also produced “One World,” the official anthem of the 2018 World Cup held in Russia, with artists Adelina and Now United.
Adding to the list, he also composed “Dirou Niya,” a song dedicated to Moroccan football and the title of the official Atlas Lions fans during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
RedOne has won three Grammy Awards from eight nominations. In 2009, he was ranked top producer on the Billboard Hot 100.
