Marrakech – Morocco has docked in the vibrant port city of Alicante as the guest of honor for the 6th edition of the Gastronomic Fair, showcasing the richness of its culinary art.
With a strong presence at Spain’s largest gastronomic event, Morocco is flaunting the incredible diversity of its cuisine while emphasizing the competitive edge of its high-quality, traceable local products.
This moment isn’t just about food for Morocco’s representatives; it’s a delicious way to promote Moroccan origin, enhance international offerings, and elevate the visibility of Moroccan culinary artistry.
The choice of Morocco as this year’s star attraction reflects a fruitful friendship and commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations.
Carlos Mazon, President of the Valencia Community, highlighted that this participation is a golden opportunity to spotlight Morocco’s culinary know-how and the richness of its exquisite products.
“The fact that Morocco is the first partner from the southern Mediterranean to be honored at the Alicante Fair showcases the strength of the privileged relations between our two countries,” Andres Perello, General Director of Casa Mediterráneo, told Morocco’s press agency (MAP).
Perello highlighted the cultural and culinary similarities between Morocco and Spain, expressing admiration for Moroccan culinary art’s ability “to evolve without losing its originality and ancestral know-how.”
Said Drissi El Bouzaidi, the Consul General of Morocco in Valencia, noted that Morocco’s participation in this must-attend gastronomic event in Spain is the result of a collaborative effort between the Casa Mediterraneo, the Moroccan Embassy in Spain, the Northern Promotion and Development Agency (APDN), and the Moroccan Consulate in Valencia.
The aim of this cooperation is to promote culinary heritage through the showcase of gastronomic products and a diverse program designed to spotlight Moroccan culinary art, tourism destinations, and local products, he explained.
Over the four days of the fair, visitors to the Moroccan booth will not only discover the country’s tourist attractions through written and audiovisual materials; they will also have the chance to savor the exquisite creations of renowned Moroccan chef Amer Bouhlal.
The Alicante Fair is hailed as Spain’s largest culinary event, gathering 120 Michelin stars and 10 Repsol Suns this year to showcase the latest trends and diverse specialties alongside gastronomic products from Spain and beyond.
Organized by the Alicante Provincial Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Alicante Fair institution, and the Valencia tourist office, the event also features conferences, workshops, competitions, and tastings to ensure an unforgettable culinary experience.
