Fez — Since opening in 2006, Cafe Clock has become a staple for travelers and locals looking for more than a quick meal.

Nestled in a centuries-old house near Bab Boujloud, the cafe preserves the medina’s architectural charm while offering a modern twist with colorful art and music-filled evenings.

The menu reflects Morocco’s culinary traditions with light contemporary touches. From the legendary camel burger to lighter options like lentil salad and vegetarian tagines, the cafe caters to diverse palates.

Desserts — including almond and orange blossom cake —are served with fresh juices and washed down with mint tea.

What sets Cafe Clock apart is its dedication to culture. Weekly storytelling sessions revive Morocco’s ancient oral traditions, while calligraphy and cooking workshops invite visitors to take part in local crafts. Musicians often perform live, adding another layer to the cafe’s vibrant atmosphere.

For Fez residents, Cafe Clock is a familiar meeting spot. University students gather to practice languages and artisans from the medina drop by for a tea break.

For first-time visitors, it is a gateway into the city’s creative spirit and a place to strike up conversations that cross borders and cultures.

As a local, Cafe Clock holds a special place in my own routine. I remember walking in for the first time, a little skeptical of the idea of a “camel burger,” only to be won over by the cafe’s warm energy and eclectic mix of people.

Over time, it has become a favorite stop after long afternoons wandering the medina, a place where I can pause, recharge, and feel connected to both my city and the world beyond it.

The storytelling nights, in particular, are moments I cherish. Sitting in a circle, listening to tales passed down for generations, I am reminded of the richness of Moroccan heritage and the importance of keeping it alive.

Cafe Clock, to me, is more than a cafe. It’s a reminder that Fez is not just a city of walls and history, but a living, breathing community that thrives on sharing stories, flavors, and friendships.
