Marrakech – To mark the Amazigh New Year, Yennayer 2976, Moroccan rock band Meteor Airlines is making a much-anticipated return to the national stage with two concerts in Rabat and Marrakech this weekend.

These performances not only celebrate Amazigh cultural identity but also commemorate the band’s 10-year journey since its formation in January 2016.

The band is set to perform on January 10 at Cinéma Renaissance in Rabat and January 13 at Le Meydene in Marrakech.

These shows mark a dual milestone: the celebration of Yennayer, a symbol of renewal and cultural transmission, and a decade of musical creation that has defined the band’s career.

On stage, the group showcases a strong visual identity inspired by Amazigh heritage, including the Azennar, a traditional cape, reflecting a confident and deliberate cultural anchoring.

This fusion of tradition and modernity gives their live performances a unique intensity, creating a dialogue between past, present, and future.

Their latest album, Agdal (2024), deepens this artistic commitment. The record tackles pressing contemporary issues, including environmental preservation, climate resilience, water scarcity, biodiversity, and cultural transmission.

The term Agdal, drawn from Amazigh tradition, refers to a communal system for sustainable natural resource management, a concept that resonates in both the music and the collective energy of the band’s performances.

Founded in January 2016, Meteor Airlines celebrates a decade of original creations and a constant search for meaning.

For the band, these concerts are more than just tour dates, they are a homecoming and a moment of shared celebration with loyal fans.

“These two shows are a celebration: Yennayer, our reunion with the audience, and ten years of Amazigh rock together,” Ahmed Ennassiri, lead vocalist and guitarist, said.

Both concerts start at 8:30 PM and are expected to be highlights of Morocco’s alternative music scene, reaffirming Meteor Airlines’ role as a bridge between heritage, modernity, and musical innovation.
