Fez — Rabat’s Cinéma Renaissance-Café Culturel La Scène will host a screening of “Los destellos” as part of the “Gaudí Film Cycle,” a Catalan cinema series now expanding its international reach to Morocco.
The screening is part of a monthly program held on the last Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Rabat venue, located at 266 Avenue Mohamed V.
The initiative is organized by the Government Delegation of the Generalitat of Catalonia in North Africa, in collaboration with the Catalan Film Academy and the Institut Ramon Llull.
The Institut Ramon Llull has said the Gaudí Film Cycle will be present in 2026 in Berlin, Mexico City, Chile, Rabat, and Washington, with Rabat’s screenings taking place at Cinéma Renaissance.
A delicate story about family bonds
Directed by Pilar Palomero, “Los destellos” is a 2024 Spanish drama centered on Isabel, whose life shifts when her daughter Madalen asks her to visit Ramón, her sick ex-husband.
The San Sebastián Film Festival describes the film as a story of renewed resentment, vulnerability, and emotional re-reading, as Isabel begins to see her past with Ramón from another angle.
Through a quiet and intimate style, Palomero explores forgiveness, the passage of time, and the fragile beauty of ordinary moments. The film stars Patricia López Arnaiz, Antonio de la Torre, Marina Guerola, and Julián López.
By bringing “Los destellos” to Rabat, the Gaudí Film Cycle offers Moroccan audiences another entry point into contemporary Catalan cinema. It also strengthens Rabat’s role as a cultural meeting place where European, Mediterranean, and Moroccan audiences can engage with stories rooted in memory, care, and human connection.
