Fez — “Adventure Time: Side Quests” will premiere in the US on June 29 on Disney+ and Hulu, bringing Finn the Human and Jake the Dog back for a new round of animated adventures.
The new series is described as a companion to the original “Adventure Time,” the Emmy, Peabody, and Annie Award-winning animated show that became one of Cartoon Network’s defining titles. Disney+ lists the June 29 release as the premiere of the new title, while Hulu’s schedule says the complete first season will be added the same day.
Back to the Land of Ooo
“Adventure Time: Side Quests” follows young hero Finn and his magical dog best friend Jake as they travel across the Land of Ooo, taking on strange enemies, comic missions, and surreal encounters.
The official description leans into the show’s playful tone, saying “the new series follows young hero Finn and his magical dog best friend Jake as they embark on adventures across the fantastical land of Ooo, partying with cloud people and punching evil in the butt along the way.”
Unlike some of the franchise’s later, more emotionally layered installments, the new series appears to return to the spirit of the early seasons, with lighter and more self-contained stories.
Sasha Knight voices Finn the Human, while John DiMaggio returns as Jake the Dog. Fan-favorite characters are also expected to appear, including Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline, and BMO, voiced by Tom Kenny, Hynden Walch, Olivia Olson, and Niki Yang.
A familiar creative spirit
Nate Cash serves as showrunner and executive producer. He said making “’Side Quests’ “felt like making the original ‘Adventure Time,’” describingthe project as a return to the creative energy that shaped the earlier series.
The production team also includes Darrick Bachman as story editor, Victor Courtright and Niki Yang as directors, Nick Cross as art director, and Matthew Janszen as composer.
For longtime viewers, “Adventure Time: Side Quests” offers another chance to revisit a world built on absurd humor, emotional warmth, and visual imagination. For younger audiences, it could serve as a first entry into one of modern animation’s most influential fantasy universes.
