Rabat – VisitMalta, the official tourism brand of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), has teamed up with Fotorivals.com to launch “Malta & Gozo Quest: Capture the Islands.”
It is a new five-day photography competition inviting photographers and travel enthusiasts from around the world to explore the Mediterranean archipelago through creative challenges.
Scheduled for October 2026, the experience will combine guided travel with a competitive photography format powered by the Fotorivals mobile app.
Participants will complete themed photo missions across some of Malta’s best-known destinations, including the UNESCO-listed streets of Valletta, the medieval walled city of Mdina, traditional fishing villages in southern Malta, and Gozo’s rugged coastline, secluded coves and panoramic viewpoints.
Designed to encourage creative storytelling through photography, the event aims to showcase both iconic landmarks and lesser-known corners of Malta and Gozo while generating user-created content that highlights the islands’ culture, architecture and landscapes to an international audience.
“Malta and Gozo offer an incredibly rich and diverse backdrop for photography,” said Carlo Micallef, CEO of VisitMalta.
“This partnership with Fotorivals.com creates a fresh way for visitors to discover our islands while generating beautiful content that showcases our destination worldwide.”

The initiative comes as Malta continues to expand its international tourism profile through experience-led campaigns and major global events.
In 2026, Valletta is also set to host the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, underscoring the country’s growing role as a destination for international travel and tourism.
Malta’s varied scenery, from Baroque architecture and fortified cities to dramatic sea cliffs, natural swimming spots and the quieter island of Gozo, has long attracted photographers, filmmakers and content creators.
The islands receive around 300 days of sunshine each year, making them a year-round destination for outdoor photography.
