Rabat – After the global box office success of Michael, Jaafar Jackson is set to take the next step in his acting career by joining Will Smith in the upcoming action thriller “Supermax.”
Jackson has officially joined the cast of Supermax, an Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax production starring Will Smith alongside AnnaSophia Robb.
Details about Jackson’s role have not yet been revealed.
The film will be directed by David Gordon Green, known for Halloween and The Exorcist: Believer. Production is scheduled to begin in mid-August, with Supermax set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video worldwide.
The story follows two FBI agents investigating a mysterious murder inside what is described as the world’s most secure prison.
Featuring action, suspense, and mystery, the film centers on a dangerous case filled with unexpected twists.
AnnaSophia Robb will play one of the FBI agents opposite Smith and recently shared her excitement about joining the project on Instagram.
Jackson’s casting comes on the heels of the remarkable success of Michael, in which he portrayed his uncle, the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, in his feature film debut.
The biopic has become one of 2026’s biggest box office hits, ranking as the second highest-grossing film worldwide this year and the fourth highest-grossing release in North America.
Before landing the role, Jackson had said he never envisioned becoming an actor.
He was cast as Michael Jackson in January 2023 after auditioning for the biopic, earning widespread praise for capturing his uncle’s voice, stage presence, and signature dance moves, including the Moonwalk, Robot, Spin, and Toe Stand.
Supermax is written by David Weil and David J. Rosen, who previously collaborated on Hunters and Invasion. Both also serve as executive producers on the project.
The film is produced by Will Smith and Adam Fishbach through Westbrook, alongside Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona for The Picture Company.
