Rabat – Women’s wellness is entering a new chapter, and Six Senses is making space for it with The Yin Way Retreat – The Way of a Woman, a new wellness experience designed to support women through different stages of life.

The retreat will take place at Six Senses Kanuhura in the Maldives from October 1-4, before moving to Six Senses Kyoto in Japan from December 11-14.

Led by Six Senses Wellness Director and integrative health expert Hati S. Malinova, the experience brings together modern health insights, Traditional Chinese Medicine and ancient Eastern practices.

Rather than focusing solely on fertility, menopause or individual symptoms, The Yin Way takes a broader approach to women’s wellbeing.

Its philosophy is built around the Yin principles of rest, reflection, receptivity and cyclical living, encouraging women to understand how their bodies change and what they may need at different points in life.

A different approach to women’s wellness

The retreat arrives as conversations around gender-specific wellness continue to grow.

Instead of applying health and lifestyle approaches historically developed around male data, the focus is increasingly shifting toward the specific experiences of women and their long-term wellbeing.

For Malinova, that means looking beyond hormones alone.

“Women’s wellness has often been treated as a narrow conversation, focused on fertility and menopause, but it is much broader than that,” she said.

The retreat is designed to give guests a space to explore concerns such as sleep, stress, fatigue, hormonal changes, brain fog and emotional balance, while connecting them to wider lifestyle habits.

The experience begins with an integrated wellness screening, allowing each guest to follow a more personalized journey.

Treatments and activities may include lymphatic drainage, heat therapies, stress-management practices and sessions focused on sleep, circadian rhythms and hormonal health.

Six Senses Kanuhura

At Six Senses Kanuhura, the Maldives’ retreat takes advantage of its island setting, combining wellness sessions with plenty of time to slow down.

Guests will take part in daily yin yoga and sound healing, alongside workshops exploring hormonal health.

At the Alchemy Bar, they can discover herbs and botanicals traditionally associated with hormonal wellbeing.

The program also includes a dolphin cruise, communal meals and personalized spa treatments.

Guests will stay in Beach Villas with private pools, creating a setting designed for both group connection and quiet time.

Six Senses Kyoto

In Kyoto, The Yin Way takes on a more contemplative character.

Guests will explore kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and gold powder, using its philosophy of embracing change and imperfection as a starting point for reflection.

The program also includes ikebana, qigong, Daoist meditation, herbal teas and guided walks through the hotel’s labyrinth.

Expert-led sessions will explore women’s health and hormonal balance through both traditional knowledge and modern science, while daily dinners draw inspiration from Japan’s 24 sekki, or micro-seasons, and Eastern dietary traditions.

Biohacking sessions, hydrotherapy and contrast therapy will complement the retreat’s wellness program, while free time gives guests the chance to explore Kyoto’s temples and gardens.

At its core, The Yin Way is less about pushing the body harder and more about learning to listen to it.
