The 40th National Horse Week gallops into Rabat with a powerful mix of talent and national pride.

Fez– The Royal Complex for Equestrian Sports and Tbourida in Dar Es Salam, Rabat, opened its gates on Saturday for one of Morocco’s most celebrated sporting events: the 40th edition of the “Semaine du Cheval”: the National Horse Week.

Running from July 5 -13, the eventbrings together the nation’s best riders and horses for a week of top-tier showjumping and dressage.

Forty years in, the National Horse Week has become a landmark in the Moroccan sports and cultural calendar. It’s a moment where elegance, discipline, and national pride gallop side by side.

Each rider who qualified for this year’s event earned it. All competitors were selected through regional qualifying rounds held throughout the year, ensuring only the finest in Moroccan equestrian sport would make it to Rabat.

Their presence is a testament to the dedication and energy driving the equestrian scene across the country.

According to Badre Fakir, Director General of the Royal Moroccan Federation for Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), this edition brings together no fewer than 400 horse-and-rider pairs.

The championship phases for pony categories A, B, and C include young riders aged 11 to 16, showing that the future of the sport is already in the saddle.

The scope of the competition is ambitious and inspiring. Across nine consecutive days, spanning both daytime and nighttime events, twenty categories will unfold in the arenas, covering showjumping and dressage at various levels.

The program is as rich as it is rigorous. It includes the Special Olympics Morocco Championship and national dressage competitions in categories A, B, and C.

Riders will also compete in the national club championships and senior, amateur, intermediate, cadet, and junior divisions (U13, U18, U21).

Pony championships (A, B, and C), amateur contests, and military tournaments (A and B) are also featured, ensuring that every level of the sport is represented.

And the dedication to dressage doesn’t end with senior riders, there’s also a full schedule of pony dressage competitions, affirming the event’s commitment to nurturing young talent.

From seasoned athletes to budding young riders, from military equestrian units to civilian clubs, this 40th edition is a celebration of Morocco’s evolving equestrian heritage, and of a community that continues to grow, train, and shine.
