Tangier’s latest exhibition challenges how we view the ordinary through photography.

Rabat– What do ordinary objects reveal when we truly stop to look at them? That is the question that lies at the heart of Comment voir les choses (How to See Things), a still life photography exhibition photographed by Daniel Aron, which opened its doors this Monday in Tangier  and will remain on view until January 31, 2026.

Hosted by the Foundation pour la Photographie, the exhibition was more than a display of technique — it serves as a meditation on perception itself.

By capturing everyday inanimate objects, Aron invites viewers to rethink the symbolic weight of ordinary objects.

Daniel Aron is no new visionary to the industry. He has built up his expertise through his years contributing to the visual identity of Hermès. “This year, we chose a slightly unusual theme—representation—to explore how to portray things,” he explained to MAP.

“This exhibition showcases a photographic approach that is often overlooked.”

Françoise Aron, co-founder of the Fondation pour la Photographie, talked about the importance of having this exhibition in the northern Moroccan city:  “We wanted to share a deep love for photography with the public in Tangier”.

The idea of representation takes on a philosophical tone throughout the exhibit. It isn’t just about what is seen, but how it is seen; it’s about interpretation.

In that sense, “Comment voir les choses” functions not only as a visual experience but as a quiet provocation, asking us to confront our assumptions about the ordinary.

Now in its fifth edition, hosted in the presence of the French Consul General in Tangier and attended by various local artists, the event reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to bringing high-concept photography intoMorocco’s art scene.

In Aron’s quiet compositions, the viewer is invited to look again, and perhaps, for the first time, to truly see beyond the surface.
