Marrakesh – Behind closed doors, whispers of a new digital revolution are swirling as insiders hint that X’s upcoming downvote feature could defy norms with a “dislike” button rather than the expected Reddit-style icon, the website TechCrunch reported on Thursday.

After initially uncovering hints about a forthcoming “downvote” feature, developer Aaron Perris has now unearthed image files indicating the button could be designed as a broken heart.

While official confirmation remains elusive, hidden code hints at a new button resembling a broken heart icon, poised next to the beloved “like” button.

New references to a “downvoting” feature include prompts asking users to confirm their downvote actions on posts.

With specific instructions like “Do you want to downvote this post?” and “Downvote this post,” the implications suggest X might be contemplating extending this feature beyond replies to encompass all posts on the platform.

With numerous sightings reported, it appears increasingly probable that X is conducting further public tests of a dislike button.

This potential addition comes amidst a series of changes to X’s “likes” system since Elon Musk took ownership.

Recently, X implemented a feature hiding likes from public view, a move aimed at enabling users to engage with more provocative content while safeguarding their online persona.
