Rabat – Netflix has confirmed that its hit live-action adaptation of One Piece will return for a third season, even before Season 2 has premiered. The announcement came during the annual One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo, where fans also got their first glimpse at Season 2 through a set of exclusive images shared by Netflix’s Tudum.
Production for Season 3 is planned to begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa, the same location where much of the first season was filmed.
Behind the scenes, there’s a notable shift: Ian Stokes, a co-executive producer on One Piece, will now join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner. Tracz, who stepped in during Season 2 after the departure of Matt Owens in March, has been overseeing the post-production process for the upcoming season.
While plot details for Season 3 remain under wraps, Netflix has teased that Season 2 will take the Straw Hat crew deeper into the Grand Line, “a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn.”
Viewers can expect fiercer enemies, bizarre islands, and perilous adventures as Luffy’s quest for the legendary treasure, the One Piece, intensifies.spent
Since its debut in 2023, the series has been a global sensation. According to Netflix, it spent eight weeks on the Global Top 10, hit No. 1 in over 75 countries, and became the first English-language Netflix series to debut at No. 1 in Japan.
With nearly 100 million views and a massive online following, the live-action One Piece has proven it can win over both longtime fans of Eiichiro Oda’s manga and newcomers alike.
For now, the seas may be calm until 2026, but with a third season locked in, One Piece fans know the adventure is far from over.
