Marrakech – The International Argan Fair is taking place in Agadir from May 8 to 12, with the event situated in the heart of the Agadir Medina.
The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sidik, graced the occasion as one of the event’s distinguished attendees.
His presence highlighted the government’s unwavering dedication to bolstering, and advocating for the argan industry.
The Wali of Agadir, Said Amzazi, also attended the International Fair.
This presence emphasizes the significance of the annual event, which serves as a tribute to the cultural heritage and economic vitality of argan oil.
Renowned for its exhibition of argan products and advancements in the industry, the fair provides a platform for local artisans and entrepreneurs to showcase their creations and foster collaboration.
This year’s iteration of the event took place for the first time in the Medina of Agadir, a stunning location that preserves the ancestral architecture of Souss Massa.
Despite the event’s usual dedication to artisans and cultural events, Abdelkrim Azenfar, director of the regional tourism development company, emphasized the need to internalize the setting of the event as it increasingly reaches a global audience.

Within the framework of a fruitful collaboration with ANDZOA, the aim was to move away from traditional setups like tents, as this product represents a wealth recognized internationally,” he said.
This year’s choice of presentation for the fair, he also argued, is essentially aimed at animating the Medina of Agadir, while also serving as a complement due to the local architecture and craftsmanship of the region and the entire Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Latifa Yaacoubi, director of ANDZOA, offered fascinating insights into the Argan plan.
“Planting agricultural argan is a unique experience. It marks the first instance of agricultural argan being cultivated,” she explained. “Previously a tree of the forest, it has now transformed into a fruitful tree thanks to the Green Morocco Plan, receiving all the incentives provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.”
The International Argan Fair in Agadir stands as a significant moment in spotlighting Morocco’s iconic product both nationwide and worldwide.
By holding this year’s Argan Fair in the enchanting setting of Agadir’s medina, and by ensuring that the event featured discussions led by prominent national and international personalities, the organizers hoped that this year’s exhibition would celebrate the region’s rich heritage and craftsmanship.
Perhaps more importantly, they wanted it to herald the transformative journey of argan agriculture, which is now recognized around the world.
