Rabat – The Princess of Wales has issued a video statement announcing that after her hospital visit in January, she was diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.

The news comes after her prolonged absence from the public eye has sparked widespread conspiracy theories.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family,” she said somberly, after thanking the public for their support after her surgery. She went on to explain that her major abdominal surgery in London in January had been a success. “At the time it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,” she added.

However, the princess revealed that the operation found that cancer had been present. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment.”

“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she added.

Kate Middleton’s prolonged absence from public life gave rise to a series of conspiracy theories. A photoshopped photo shared by the royal family of the princess with her children on Mother’s Day only made the theories worse.

Reassuring the public, she said that she is “getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits.”

Indirectly addressing the widespread conspiracy theories surrounding her absence from the public, she said: “We hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment.”

“My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I’m able. But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery,” she added.
