Rabat – After years of being compared to Audrey Hepburn, Lily Collins has officially been cast to embody the Hollywood icon in a highly anticipated new film exploring the making of the classic “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Announced on February 23, the project has already sparked excitement among fans eager to see Collins step into one of cinema’s most legendary roles.
The film is not a remake of the 1961 original. Instead, it will delve behind the camera, spotlighting casting decisions, creative tensions, and the lasting cultural impact of the beloved romantic comedy.
Based on Sam Wasson’s book “Fifth Avenue, 5 AM: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman,” the screenplay will be written by Dickinson creator Alena Smith.
Details about the director have not yet been announced.
Collins, known for her starring role in “Emily in Paris,” shared her enthusiasm on Instagram, stating, “After nearly ten years of development and a lifetime of admiration for Audrey, I can finally share this news. Words like proud and excited don’t even begin to cover it.”
Wasson’s book offers an unprecedented look at the production of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” highlighting major figures such as writer Truman Capote, costume designer Edith Head, director Blake Edwards, and Hepburn herself.
It transports readers to late-1950s America, a period when Holly Golightly’s character provoked debate and reshaped fashion and cinematic standards.
Audrey Hepburn, one of Hollywood’s defining stars, won an Academy Award for Roman Holiday before cementing her legacy with classics like “Sabrina,” “Funny Face,” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
The 1961 film earned five Oscar nominations, winning two for music and song, and was inducted into the US National Film Registry in 2012.
