Fez — The UK embassy in Morocco announced that Moroccan nationals who require a visa to travel to the United Kingdom will now receive an electronic visa only, starting February 25.
The new measure replaces the physical visa vignette previously placed inside passports and applies to all visa-required travelers worldwide.
The eVisa is a digital record of a person’s identity and immigration status in the UK. It includes details such as the type of visa granted and the conditions attached to it, including whether the holder has the right to work or study.
The system also replaces biometric residence permits, biometric residence cards, wet-ink entry stamps, and traditional visa stickers.
Travelers will be able to access their eVisa through a free UK Visas and Immigration account.
Through this online platform, users can view their immigration status, link their passport or travel document for international travel, and generate a share code when they need to prove their status, for example when applying for a job or renting accommodation in the UK.
The shift to eVisas is part of the UK government’s digital transformation of its immigration system.
Authorities say the move aims to streamline procedures, improve security, and reduce reliance on physical documents, marking a significant change for Moroccan travelers planning visits, studies, or work stays in the United Kingdom.
