Rabat – While traditional pastries often take center stage during Eid Al Fitr, adding a new dessert to the mix can bring a fun twist to the celebration. This year, why not surprise your guests with a creamy homemade tiramisu?
For a classic version, you will need 250g mascarpone cheese, 3 eggs (separated), 100g sugar, about 200ml of strong coffee that has been cooled, around 200g of ladyfinger biscuits, and cocoa powder for dusting.
To prepare the dessert, start by whisking the egg yolks with the sugar until the mixture becomes pale and creamy.
Fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the mascarpone mixture to create a light, airy cream.
Next, quickly dip the ladyfinger biscuits into the cooled coffee, making sure they are soaked but not soggy.
Arrange a layer of the biscuits at the bottom of a serving dish, then spread a layer of the mascarpone cream on top.
Repeat the process with another layer of coffee-soaked biscuits and cream until the dish is filled, finishing with a layer of cream.
Cover the tiramisu and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least four hours, or ideally overnight.
Before serving, dust the top generously with cocoa powder for the classic finish.
Prepared ahead of time and served chilled, tiramisu is a dessert that feels both indulgent and effortless, perfect for ending an Eid meal on a sweet note.
