Rabat – Jamal Souissi was honored at the 15th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival’s kick off yesterday.

The festival is taking place from March 30 to April 5 in Luxor, Egypt.

Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Ambassador of Egypt to Morocco, received Souissi, congratulating him on what he described as “a well-deserved recognition of his long-standing contribution to the film industry.”

A native of Tangier, Souissi has built a solid career as both an executive producer and production manager, contributing to a range of Moroccan and international productions.

His credits include “The Battle of the Three Kings” by Souheil Ben Barka, “A Minute of Sun Less” by Nabil Ayouch, and the Hollywood film “Black Hawk Down” directed by Ridley Scott.

Beyond celebrating an individual career, this tribute reflects the growing recognition of Moroccan talent within the Egyptian film landscape, as well as the strength of cultural ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Abdel-Latif highlighted the importance of facilitating travel for Moroccan artists and creators, emphasizing his commitment to further strengthening artistic exchange between Egypt and Morocco.

Speaking ahead of the festival, Souissi expressed his pride in being honored in Egypt, noting his long-standing connection to Egyptian culture and cinema.

The recognition of Souissi at one of Africa’s key cinematic gatherings highlights not only his personal journey, but also the continued momentum of Moroccan cinema on the international stage.
