Karim Benzema’s partner Jordan Ozuna announced that she converted to Islam before the couple’s new adventure in Saudi Arabia.
“I have converted to Islam. It was in the Mosque of Madrid,” Ozuna told magazine Yo Dona.
The American model stressed that her conversion was in a small private ceremony, where she felt “very sentimental.”
“I cried like a little girl,” she said, recalling that she did a lot of research about Islam – which she finds “beautiful.”
“Everything I’ve read about it has moved me. During Ramadan, I read the Quran and it made me cry,” she said.
In addition to her conversion to Islam, the model also spoke about her relationship with the French footballer, stressing that she did not know him when she first met him.
“When I met Karim I didn’t know who he was. I’m American, I don’t know much about soccer!” she noted.
Describing Benzema as an “amazing guy,” she said that her partner is more like her best friend.
Ozuna also spoke about the couple’s new adventure in Saudi Arabia, saying that it is her first time in the country.
“I feel like [it’s] adventure,” she said, emphasizing her eagerness to experience the culture and the food.
Asked whether she feels concerned about the move, Ozuna said, ”not at all.”
“For my part there is no problem. It’s a beautiful culture and I am delighted with the adventure,” she said.
Benzema signed a three year deal with Saudi Al Ittihad football club in May, after 12 years of playing for Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid.
