Casablanca – Galerie H has opened its doors to “KOUN Impérial,” a new collection by Moroccan social enterprise KOUN that reimagines the country’s four imperial cities through contemporary design, artisanal craftsmanship, and upcycled materials.
Presented at the Casablanca concept store until July 4, the exhibition features 25 one-of-a-kind pieces created from upcycled materials, offering a modern interpretation of Morocco’s architectural and cultural heritage.
Rather than reproducing traditional motifs, the collection draws inspiration from the distinct identity of Rabat, Fez, Marrakech, and Meknes, translating their colors, textures, and artistic influences into contemporary decorative objects and design accessories.
Heritage through a contemporary lens
Each piece was crafted using reclaimed materials, including fabrics, plastics, and other repurposed resources, reflecting KOUN’s ongoing commitment to circular design.
The collection explores how materials once considered discarded can be transformed into functional objects while preserving a strong connection to Moroccan identity.
Displayed together, the works create a dialogue between heritage and modern design, demonstrating how traditional inspiration can evolve into new forms without losing its cultural roots.
Design with a social impact
Beyond its aesthetic dimension, KOUN Impérial also reflects the social mission that has shaped the enterprise since its creation.
Through its workshops, KOUN trains young Moroccans in design and craftsmanship while encouraging their professional integration. The creative process therefore extends beyond the finished object, placing equal importance on the people behind each creation.
The collaboration with Galerie H also highlights a shared ambition to promote Moroccan contemporary design while supporting local craftsmanship and more sustainable production practices.
By combining upcycling, artisanal know-how, and contemporary design, KOUN Impérial offers a fresh perspective on Morocco’s imperial cities while demonstrating how creativity, sustainability, and social commitment can coexist within a single collection.
