Casablanca – Moroccan singer Sofia Marikh released a new song titled “Yana,” marking her return with a fresh release after a period away from new music.
Written by Yassir Sidassi and composed by Ayoub Kharbouch, the track is directed by Bnitri, with production handled by Ramoon.
Following its release, the song quickly gained attention online, with audiences reacting positively and noting that it carries a nostalgic feel that takes them back to her early beginnings.
Marikh’s career, however, goes far back. She first appeared on screen at a very young age, starting with a diaper television commercial when she was around four, before gradually becoming a familiar face in advertising across Morocco and France.
Her path later shifted into acting, with an early role at 15 in the French film “Soleil,” followed by appearances that introduced her to Moroccan audiences, including her participation in “Wa Ba3d” alongside Rachid El Ouali.
Her career took a decisive turn in 2003 when she joined the first season of Star Academy Arab World, which introduced her to a wide regional audience and as the start of her professional music path.
Over the years, she has built a catalog that includes songs such as “Bouya” and “Tahwak,” and “Essalny Ana,” shaping a steady presence in the Moroccan music scene.
Her previous release, “Lallahom,” came out last June, written and composed by Mounim Slimani, with production and mastering by Karim Loukili and direction by Reda Pater.
“Yana” brings Marikh back to music with a new release that adds to her growing body of work, following a career that has spanned singing, acting, and television appearances.
