Rabat – The luxury hospitality brand Nobu Hotel plans to open its doors to the public on January 23 in Morocco’s red city, Marrakech. The Nobu brand is led by world-famous actor Robert De Niro, film producer Meir Teper, and renowned sushi chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
“Welcome to Marrakech Rooftop Garden. With breathtaking 360 panoramic views of the Red City and Atlas mountains, an urban garden, and elegant beach club setting, designed around a circular all season’s pool…This is the place to be in Marrakech!” Nobu Marrakech’s Instagram wrote in a caption under an image of the rooftop views.
This year is Nobu’s 10th anniversary and to mark the milestone the brand is opening five new hotels in Marrakech, San Sebastian, Atlantic City, Toronto, and Rome.
To advertise the five openings, Nobu posted a reel on Instagram that featured Marrakech’s opening first. The advertisement shows a glimpse of videos from around Morocco with iconic landscapes, and typical Moroccan handicrafts designed to entice customers in.
Set to be built in a prime location, the new hotel is only a short walk from the heart and soul of Marrakech’s Jemaa el Fna Square, near to the famous Koutoubia mosque. Making up the hotel will be a total of 71 premier-sized suites.
With a unique eye-catching design, this Nobu hotel is the first in Africa from the luxury brand. The building’s architectural design includes contemporary Japanese-style aspects throughout.
For those willing to pay the maximum price you can secure a penthouse room with wraparound views of the Atlas Mountains and a private bar, or you can stay in the deluxe suites which start at MAD 5,060 ($498) a night.
As the hotel is run by one of the most well-known chefs in the world, its restaurant menu promises to live up to expectations.
The official hotel website wrote that they will offer “signature dishes” such as black cod miso, rock shrimp tempura, and yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno — just a few of the celebrated dishes that will be served at Nobu.
The hotel prides itself on bringing “the latest trends” to Japanese cuisine, writing its dishes are “inventive” with “local inspiration.”
As part of its opening Nobu is offering a retreat for six lucky guests who will be given the prized opportunity of experiencing the prestigious penthouse living experience.
The hotel has three swimming pools and a spa, which is one of the biggest in Marrakech at around 2,000 square meters including 14 treatment rooms.
The hotel project reflects King Mohammed VI’s 2020 aspirations to boost tourism in Morocco, Nobu Hotels noted in its statement, stressing: “His Majesty has outlined a great vision and Nobu is pleased to be entering the market at this exciting time.”
