‘Irréversible’

While most movies in the war genre are hard to watch, or rewatch. This World War II Soviet drama film, directed by Elem Klimov, is as close as any war movie has ever come to transforming into a horror tragedy.
The story portrays the horrifying events of war, from the landscape of a 14-year-old child starring Aleksey Kravchenko, in one of the most legendary acting performances in history.
This film doesn’t show off battlefield heroes or prideful soldiers, but rather the psychological devastation as a cost of war, and how it strips away people from their innocence, hope, and even humanity.
The movie was shot with hunting realism, and brutal imagery that leave you drained and burnt out, showing what war truly does to individuals.
‘Martyrs’
Directed by Pascal Laugier, this French horror movie goes beyond commonly known in the gory and spooky genre.
Whilst tons of people rewatch numerous horror movies everyday, that’s not the case with “Martyrs.”
The film follows Lucie, a young woman haunted by trauma from being kidnapped and tortured as a child, and her friend Anna who tries to help her.
The film starts as a story of revenge against the people who wronged Lucie, but slowly turns into something much darker and philosophical.
The second part is what really made it well-known because it focuses primarily on pain, endurance, and the idea of what happens at the moment of death, in an extremely gory and graphic way.
The movie explores disturbing themes of brutality and depth, which makes it a wonderful, yet very hard-to-watch movie experience.
‘Requiem for a Dream’
Many viewers describe their experience watching this psychological movie directed by Darren Aronofsky as the most efficient and equally terrifying drug-abuse campaign..
The film portrays four people in Brooklyn who chase their dreams through several addictions, including heroin, pills, and the hope of being on TV.
As time passes, their hopes start to control them instead, causing them to take some life-changing decisions, that left them completely destroyed
