Marrakech – Moroccan craftsmanship has left its mark on the international stage as Bilal Benhammou secured the bronze medal in the global tiling competition hosted by Sika BFM China.
Competing against 56 tilers from 13 countries, the laureate of the 2024 “Master Zlayji,” a unique Moroccan tiling competition organized by Super Cerame and Sika Maroc, showcased the nation’s excellence in ceramic artistry.
This prestigious competition tested participants through a rigorous theoretical assessment on November 8 and a practical challenge on November 9.
While China claimed first place and Ecuador took second, Benhammou’s outstanding performance earned him a spot on the podium, affirming Morocco’s growing prominence in the tiling industry.
A platform for national and global excellence
Super Cerame and Sika Maroc – two industry leaders – co-organized Master Zlayji, which is aimed at elevating Moroccan talent in ceramic installation.
The 2024 edition saw an unprecedented 1,500 participants, tripling the turnout from its inaugural event.
The Master Zlayji competition is a testament to Morocco’s dedication to excellence. “Competing here is no less challenging than on the global stage,” shared Benhammou in a press release, reflecting on the meticulous organization of both the national and international events.
