Marrakech – The creative soul of Fez was among the highlights at the opening of this year’s Paris Design Week, captivating design enthusiasts with its rich heritage and masterful craftsmanship.
This comes as Paris is once again the design capital of the world while Paris Design Week 2024 takes center stage at the renowned Maison & Objet fair from September 5 to 14.
With exhibitions, installations, and creative discoveries, the event draws in journalists, professionals, and design lovers eager to explore new ideas and artistic expressions.
This year, all eyes will be on the highly anticipated exhibition “De l’âme à la main” at “Aalamuna Paris,” a unique showcase by Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou.
The exhibition celebrates the fusion of artistry and craftsmanship, bringing together creators from three countries: Anna Charlotte Atelier (Sweden), Kente Project Art Lab (Togo), and Hicham Lahlou (Morocco).
It’s a journey through textiles, leatherwork, embroidery, silverware, and the intricate metalwork of Fez, blending traditional Moroccan techniques with contemporary functional design and sculptural products.
Hicham Lahlou, a Franco-Moroccan designer born in Rabat, has made a name for himself on the world stage with prestigious collections for brands like Daum and Haviland.
His works have been featured in iconic museums such as the Vitra Design Museum, Guggenheim Bilbao, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
A Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters of France since 2016, Lahlou’s influence on the global design stage is undeniable.
