Rabat – Eid Al Fitr 2023 in the UK is expected to take place on Friday, April 21., according to Manchester Evening News.
The news outlet cited Islamic scholars who predict Eid Al Fitr 2023 to start on Friday, April 21.
“This year, most Islamic scholars agreed that Ramadan started on the evening of Wednesday, March 22. This means that Eid will likely start on Thursday evening on Thursday, April 20, and will carry on throughout Friday, April 21, 2023,” the website added.
Like other religious events, Eid Al-Fitr is one of the most special occasions in Islam as it marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
As is the case across the world, Muslims in the UK start Eid celebrations through morning prayers at local mosques.
People wear their finest clothes, including new outfits to celebrate the feast.
“If you visit a Muslim community during Eid, you will likely hear people wishing each other Eid Mubarak. This translates as ‘Blessed Eid’ or ‘Happy Eid,’” Time and Date said.
Muslims also enjoy various delicious foods during breakfast, the first of its kind following a month of fasting, with families often exchanging visits and food among each other.
Eid Al Fitr is also known as Sweet Eid or the sugar feast.
Like the UK, several countries across the world are expected to celebrate Eid Al Fitr on April 21, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and the US.
Morocco, meanwhile, is expected to celebrate the feast on April 22.
