Rabat – The 20th Marrakech International Film Festival, which will take place this year from November 24 to December 2, will be presided over by Oscar-winning American actress Jessica Chastain.
Her jury will award the “Etoile d’Or” to one of the fourteen first and second feature films in the international competition, dedicated to the discovery of filmmakers worldwide.
“It’s an honor to preside over the jury of the prestigious Marrakech Film Festival, which is being held for the 20th time, and I’m delighted to be returning after my last participation in 2011,” Chastain told the press.
“To be entrusted with this role is a privilege, and I look forward to celebrating the extraordinary talents of world cinema,” she added.
Over the past decade, Jessica Chastain has established herself as one of Hollywood’s finest actresses, taking on a number of leading roles with renowned filmmakers such as Terrence Malick, Kathryn Bigelow, Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott.
She has also won multiple accolades for both her “superb” in-camera work as well as the “high caliber” of the productions she has produced.
Last year, she took home the Best Actress prize at the 94th Academy Awards for her portrayal of the legendary Tammy Faye in the 2021 movie “Dans les yeux de Tammy Faye.”
In 2016, she founded Freckle Films, a film and television production business with headquarters in New York.

These two novels join Freckle Films’ previous projects, including “The 355,” “Dans les yeux de Tammy Faye,” and “George & Tammy,” as well as other projects.
Shortly released will be Michel Franco’s “Memory,” produced by Freckle Films and co-starring Peter Saarsgard.
Chastain recently starred in the revival of Ibsen’s classic “A Doll’s House,” her first Broadway performance in more than a decade, earning her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play.
The American actress also won the Drama Desk Award for “outstanding performance in a leading theatrical role.”
