Tech Takes the Spotlight at Morocco’s AI Film Awards in Marrakech

AI-engineered movies are setting standards, pushing boundaries and proving that AI is here to stay in the creative industry.

Marrakech – The world of cinema took a bold leap into the future at today’s inaugural AI Film Awards in Marrakech.

Held at the prestigious ESAV Marrakech, the event brought together filmmakers, tech innovators, and industry leaders to explore how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing film.

Under the leadership of artistic director Devy Man and AI Film Awards Africa president Houda Lazaar, the day featured masterclasses, screenings, and thought-provoking discussions on AI’s role in filmmaking.

The conference kicked off with a deep dive into AI’s impact on storytelling and creative processes, where experts shared insights into how technology is changing the filmmaking landscape.

Highlights included a showcase of AI-generated scenes and the projection of Devy Man’s own AI-created film, The 3 Gates of Wisdom, made entirely on a smartphone using AI.

“I saw a possibility with the level of technology accessible on smartphones and the anticipation of what’s to come later. So, I decided to use AI with applications available on phones right now, and possibly create the first hybrid animated movie on a smartphone! Essentially, it’s about saving time and money in the movie-making process while still maintaining quality,” Devy told Morocco World News.

One of the standout moments was the recognition of AI-driven films like Selfies, which garnered 11 awards, and Le Rêve de Sam, which took home 28.

Made with the help of AI tools, these films have set new standards in the industry, pushing boundaries and proving that AI is here to stay in the world of cinema.

The event also highlighted the groundbreaking use of AI in Gemini Man, where Will Smith was digitally de-aged through motion capture and CGI, illustrating how far technology has come in enhancing visual storytelling.

The day concluded with an exclusive VIP soiree, where the future of AI in cinema was passionately debated, leaving everyone eager for the next chapter in this digital revolution.
