Fez — The ministry announced that the 2025 prize will recognize works across nine categories: Morocco Prize for Poetry, Narrative (fiction and short stories), Human Sciences, Social Sciences, Literary, Artistic and Linguistic Studies, Translation, Amazigh Literature, Studies in Amazigh Culture, and Children’s and Young Adult Literature.

Entries are accepted from Oct. 2 to 31, 2025.

The call is open to Moroccan writers, poets, critics, researchers, thinkers, and translators whose books were first published in 2024.

Eligible works may be in Arabic, Amazigh, Hassani, or foreign languages and must have been legally deposited, whether published in Morocco or abroad. Books with more than two authors are not eligible, and previous winners may only reapply three years after the year they received the prize.

Applications must be submitted to the Directorate of Books, Libraries, and Archives in Rabat or sent by post during the submission window. Each dossier should include a request to participate, a completed information sheet available via the official portal, an updated CV detailing the applicant’s academic and literary profile, a copy of the national ID card, and eight copies of the nominated book.

For the Translation Prize, candidates must add three copies of the original work, eight copies of the translated book, and documentation proving translation rights. The ministry noted that dossiers that do not meet these conditions will not be considered.

Launched more than half a century ago, the Morocco Book Prize remains one of the country’s most respected cultural distinctions, highlighting scholarship and creativity across languages and disciplines. Organizers said the 2025 edition aims to continue promoting literary excellence and broader access to reading nationwide.
