The announcement coincided with International Mother’s Day, which falls on March 21 each year.

The day is celebrated worldwide to honor mothers and their contributions to families, communities, and society at large, highlighting their essential role in nurturing future generations.

International Mother’s Day has its roots in early 20th-century campaigns for women’s rights and peace, evolving into a global celebration of motherhood.

Around the world, it is marked by expressions of gratitude, gifts, and public events that highlight the importance of mothers in nurturing the next generation.

In many countries, the day also serves to raise awareness about the challenges mothers face, including balancing work, education, and family responsibilities.

It emphasizes that motherhood is not just a personal role but a social cornerstone, essential for the wellbeing and growth of communities.

Dubai’s move to rename “Housewife” as “Generation Shaper” aligns with the spirit of the day, formally acknowledging mothers’ contributions to society.

By doing so, authorities aim to highlight the professional-level responsibility, dedication, and influence that mothers have in shaping individuals, values, and the nation’s future.
