Fez — Casablanca is set to welcome “Chers Parents” (dear parents) on Thursday, April 16, at 8:30 p.m. at Studio des Arts Vivants, as part of the 15th edition of “Les Théâtrales,” the long-running stage program organized by Top Event Production.
Written by Emmanuel Patron and Armelle Patron, “Chers Parents” has built a strong reputation in France as a sharp family comedy driven by buried tensions, sibling dynamics, and the disruptive power of money.
The play has already surpassed 900 performances and attracted around 450,000 spectators, helping it establish itself as one of the better-known recent commercial comedies on the French stage.
A family reunion that quickly turns bitter
The story centers on three siblings — Pierre, Jules, and Louise — who are urgently summoned to the family home. They arrive fearing the worst, only to face an announcement they did not expect. From there, the play spirals into accusations, revelations, misunderstandings, and emotional score-settling, using humor to expose the fragile balance that often hides beneath family affection.
The script is a comedy about family, love, and money, with much of its appeal coming from how relatable the situations feel.
That premise helps explain the show’s popularity. Rather than relying on abstract satire, “Chers Parents” draws on familiar domestic fault lines: favoritism between siblings, old resentments, inheritance anxiety, and the gap between how families present themselves and how they function under pressure.
Casablanca’s theater scene keeps building momentum
The upcoming performance also fits into Casablanca’s broader live-performance rhythm, with Studio des Arts Vivants continuing to host music, comedy, and theater events throughout the season.
Top Event Production’s “Les Théâtrales” series has become a recurring fixture for audiences looking for French-language stage productions in the city, and “Chers Parents” appears positioned as one of this edition’s lighter but more crowd-friendly offerings.
