“Medina Game” takes that idea one step further.
Operating in Chefchaouen and Tangier, the immersive experience transforms the two historic medinas into life-sized treasure hunts where participants solve puzzles, decipher clues, and uncover local stories while navigating some of Morocco’s most iconic urban landscapes.
Instead of following a guide from one monument to the next, players become the heroes of their own adventure. Equipped with an explorer’s bag containing a compass, locks, mysterious objects, and a series of riddles, teams set off through the narrow streets in search of a hidden treasure, with each challenge revealing another piece of the medina’s history and culture.
A different way to discover Morocco
Each adventure lasts around two hours and is led by a local game master, who introduces participants to the story before sending them into the maze-like streets. The route involves less than 30 minutes of walking, making the experience accessible to families, couples, and groups of friends alike. It is available in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
The concept replaces passive sightseeing with active exploration. Players are encouraged to pay attention to architectural details, traditional craftsmanship, historic gates, and hidden corners that many tourists might otherwise overlook.
In Chefchaouen, the blue-washed alleyways become part of the mystery, with every turn offering another clue tucked between artisan workshops and centuries-old buildings. In Tangier, the medina’s layered history, shaped by African, Arab, and European influences, provides the backdrop for a different adventure through one of Morocco’s most cosmopolitan historic quarters.
