Rabat – New research conducted by swimwear brand Pour Moi, in collaboration with relationship and sex therapist Georgina Vass, has ranked Morocco among the world’s best destinations for an argument-free couples’ holiday in 2026.
The study analysed nearly 100 destinations across more than 40 countries using a specially designed “Couples’ Holiday Success Score,” based on factors believed to reduce stress and improve relationship experiences while travelling.
Morocco secured two places in the global top 20, making it the second most represented country after Italy, which claimed six spots on the list.
The coastal city of Essaouira ranked third overall with a score of 69.95 out of 100, while Marrakech placed 16th with a score of 56.61.
According to the research, travelling together for the first time can place significant pressure on couples.
Data cited from Dating.com suggests that nearly half of couples break up after their first holiday together, while even long-term relationships can be strained by travel-related stress, budgeting issues, crowds, and unfamiliar surroundings.
To identify the best destinations for couples, the study evaluated six key factors: sleep and comfort, ease of exploration, safety and stress levels, affordability pressure, crowd levels, and opportunities for shared experiences.
Essaouira’s high ranking was linked to its calm atmosphere, walkable medina, ocean views, and relaxed pace, all of which contribute to a low-stress romantic environment.
Marrakech also earned praise for its luxury riads, cultural attractions, gardens, rooftop dining, and traditional hammam experiences that encourage couples to connect and unwind together.
The results suggest that Morocco’s unique mix of affordability, culture, relaxation, and memorable shared experiences continues to make it an increasingly attractive destination for couples seeking a romantic and stress-free getaway.
