Rabat – This year has been a great year for music in Morocco. Many big artists have released their long awaited albums and they are everybody’s summer soundtrack!
Dizzy Dros, ElGrandeToto, Stormy and Inkonnu have been dominating the Moroccan rap conversation this year, with new releases competing for streams and attention.
‘Aflam’ – Dizzy Dros
Thirteen years after his first album, Dizzy Dros’ second album “Aflam” was released on May 22 and fans can’t stop talking about it.
Through 21 tracks, rapper Dizzy climbed straight to the top of the charts. With three songs in Morocco’s Top 20 on Spotify, he’s firmly on everyone’s playlist right now.
His songs “Lamara,” “Omar” and “LallaMoulati” are currently sitting on #1, #11 and #18 on Spotify Morocco respectively.
Dizzy Dros is also expected to perform in Mawazine Festival alongside “7ari” on June 22.
‘Salgoat’ (Vol. 2) – ElGrandeToto
ElGrandeToto’s name became synonymous with Rap music since the release of his second album “Caméleon” in 2021.
On May 27, he released his fifth project “Salgoat” (Vol. 2) with 17 songs to follow up on his previous project “Salgoat.”
His new album charted on the top #200 of more than thirteen countries on Apple Music across Africa and the Middle East.
On June 27, ElGrandeToto is also set to perform for the second year in a row in Mawazine Festival’s biggest stage, Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium. He is the first Moroccan artist to headline this venue.
‘Desperado’ – Stormy
On May 21, Stormy released his fourth album “Desperado.” The album received a lot of hype from fans after the album’s secret release party where more than 1500 fans got the chance to hear the album in secrecy.
He has also been praised for his creative music videos, particularly of his song “Ski.”
Shot in Tokyo, Stormi described it to Complex MENA as being “more international without forgetting my Moroccan side.”
With six of his songs sitting on Spotify Morocco’s top 10, his album proves to be extremely successful and his fans have never been happier.
‘Split’ – Inkonnu
Released on March 26, “Split” is Inkonnu’s second album, after his very successful first project “Arabi” in 2021.
Tracks from his Albums such as “Warda” featuring Manal Benchlikha, and “Tjeneny” are still charting on Spotify months after their release.
He was also featured on Dizzy Dros’ album in “LamaraL”.
His album was very positively received by the public for mixing between his signature style and more modern influences.
With no scheduled tour yet, fans are waiting patiently for Inkonnu’s future concerts both in Morocco and Abroad.
