Safi – Diamantine unveiled its new Neo Beldi collection during a runway show on July 16, presenting a contemporary interpretation of the Moroccan wardrobe under the theme “L’héritage continue” (The Heritage Continues), designed by the brand’s style director, Sara Elouargua.
The concept is reflected in the collection’s title. Rather than treating heritage as something preserved in the past, Neo Beldi presents it as a living tradition that continues to evolve through the craftsmanship of Moroccan artisans and the vision of contemporary designers.
Divided into three chapters under the subtitle “Du jour à la nuit” (“From Day to Night”), the collection follows the rhythm of a single day, tracing a seamless journey from daylight to evening through its designs.
Day, twilight, night
The “Day” chapter introduces the collection with light tones, clean silhouettes and flowing fabrics that evoke effortless daytime elegance.
Traditional Moroccan craftsmanship is woven throughout the designs, with intricate embroidery, hand-twisted braidwork, “sfifa” trim and the signature “aakad” knot fastenings that have long defined the caftan.
The “Twilight” warms the palette and sharpens the ornament, bringing in brocade and crepe.
As for the “Night,” it is the deepest register. The colors turn profound, and the materials climb to brocade, silk, organza and satin. Nothing breaks between the three.
A wardrobe for the whole family
Neo Beldi is not a womenswear capsule. It runs across women, men and children, which fits a house that has spent more than 20 years dressing Moroccan families rather than a single shopper.
Diamantine describes the result as a meeting point of Moroccan craftsmanship and contemporary design through silhouettes that are modern, elegant and refined.
Speaking of the women’s line, the brand says the pieces are “designed for the woman of today, without ever losing sight of the authenticity of our cultural identity.”
The collection also reflects the brand’s commercial vision. Diamantine positions Neo Beldi as an alternative to fast fashion, offering ready-to-wear pieces designed to endure beyond seasonal trends rather than fleeting social media moments.
Versatility is at the heart of the collection. Designed to transition effortlessly from everyday wear to family celebrations, the pieces offer a more practical alternative to the traditional caftan, which is often reserved for weddings and special occasions.
Diamantine frames Neo Beldi as a standing platform for young talent, an exchange in which the house supplies two decades of production experience and emerging designers supply the ideas.
The caftan it all draws on now sits on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which raises the stakes on how it is handled.
Beldi has always meant the local, the homegrown and the inherited, and Neo Beldi is the brand’s case that it can also mean now.
