Rabat – Morocco’s Bahia Palace has been named the 23rd most beautiful interior in the world, scoring 76.5 out of 100 in a new study by travel insurance specialist AllClear.
The research examined how people visually responded to images of some of the world’s most beautiful interiors.
Researchers measured how quickly each interior captured attention, how many participants noticed it, and how long their attention remained on the image, combining the three metrics into an overall “eye-catching” score.
Bahia Palace recorded an average time to first fixation of 2.11 seconds, while participants spent an average of 1.75 seconds looking at its interior.
The palace reached 91%, meaning it was noticed by the vast majority of participants in the study.
Located in Marrakech, Bahia Palace is known for its intricate Moroccan architecture, detailed zellige tilework, carved wood, painted ceilings, and ornate interiors.
The Moroccan landmark placed just outside the study’s top 20, joining a global ranking dominated by historic palaces, libraries, government buildings, and other architecturally significant spaces.
Switzerland’s Abbey Library of St. Gall took first place with an eye-catching score of 97/100.
Its Baroque interior captured participants’ attention in an average of 1.36 seconds and held it for 2.41 seconds, with a 93% reach.
India’s Mysore Palace ranked second with 86.1/100, recording the longest average viewing time on the list at 2.55 seconds.
Hungary’s Budapest Parliament completed the top three with a score of 85.7/100.
Europe accounted for eight of the top 20 spots, while South America claimed three.
