Casablanca – Rabat will welcome Anantara Retreat Rabat, a new luxury hotel that marks Minor Hotels’ first property in Morocco.
The hotel group announced the signing of the project on October 12, partnering with Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer Bloom Holding to bring its Anantara brand to the Moroccan capital.
William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International, described Morocco as “an exciting new market for the group,” adding that the capital’s distinctive appeal made it a fitting choice for the brand’s Moroccan debut.
The retreat will sit in Rabat’s diplomatic district, around 20 minutes from the city center.
A quieter side of luxury
Rather than a sprawling resort, Anantara Retreat Rabat will offer an intimate setting that combines traditional Moroccan architecture with contemporary design.
The property will feature 38 accommodation units, including luxury rooms, suites, and seven three-bedroom villas.
Guests will also have several spaces to unwind, from a signature restaurant and Moroccan tea lounge to a swimming pool. Anantara plans to add a spa, fitness facilities, and meeting rooms, catering to leisure travelers as well as diplomatic and business guests.
Why Rabat?
Rabat offers a distinctive setting for the brand’s Moroccan debut. The capital brings together historic landmarks, contemporary cultural spaces, and a calmer pace of life, with the Atlantic Ocean and Bou Regreg River adding to its appeal.
The city also holds the title of UNESCO World Book Capital for 2026, putting its literary and creative scene in the spotlight. Minor Hotels has also pointed to Morocco’s growing tourism sector and improved air connections as further reasons for entering the market.
For Bloom Holding, the project represents another step in its international expansion.
“Our commercial partnership with Minor Hotels reflects Bloom’s commitment to working with leading global operators to deliver exceptional hospitality destinations,” said Carlos Wakim, CEO of Bloom Holding.
“Rabat represents an exciting opportunity for Bloom Holding as we continue to expand our international portfolio in a considered and strategic manner.”
When will it open?
Travelers will have to wait a little longer before checking in. Anantara Retreat Rabat is expected to open in early 2030, so the project remains in its development stage.
For Minor Hotels, the signing marks a new chapter in its expansion across the Middle East and Africa. For Rabat, it adds another name to the capital’s growing luxury hospitality scene, with Moroccan design and tea culture among the experiences planned for future guests.
