Marrakech – The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) has revealed the juries for the 25th edition of the Tangier National Film Festival, scheduled to take place from Oct. 17 to 25.
For the Feature Film Competition, Moroccan filmmaker Hakim Belabbes will preside over a jury that includes actress Nadia Kounda, director and screenwriter Yasmine Benkiran, producer Mariam Lee Abounouom, Tunisian director of photography Amine Messadi, writer Abdelkader Chaui, and director Kamal Lazraq.
The Documentary Feature Competition will be judged by Moroccan documentarian Mohamed El Aboudi, alongside Nigerian producer and director Aicha Macky Kidy, producer and distributor Siham El Faydi, director-producer-musician Adnane Baraka, and documentarian Jaouad Babili.
For the Short Film Competitions – both fiction and documentary- the jury will be led by Moroccan screenwriter and director Halima Ouardiri, with members including cinema scholar Layla Rahmouni, director Ilias El Faris, theatre director Mohammed Benhsain, and filmmaker Imad Benomar.
In the Films from Moroccan Film Schools and Institutes category, the jury will be chaired by Moroccan director Moulay Taieb Bouhanana, accompanied by researcher-producer Bahija Lyoubi and sound editor Sara Kaddouri.
The awards line-up is just as extensive. In the Feature Film category, 14 prizes will be handed out, including Best Film, Best Production, Jury Prize, Best First Work, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Leading Actress, Best Leading Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Editing, and Best Original Music.
For Documentary Features, jurors will award the Grand Prize, Jury Prize, and Creation Prize. Short Films will see a Grand Prize, Jury Prize, and Screenplay Prize.
Meanwhile, films from Moroccan film schools will compete for the Grand Prize and Jury Prize.
