Marrakech – In the heart of Rabat, in an auditorium easily accessible by all modes of transport, pianist Mahmoud El Moussaoui will deliver an exceptional free-entry concert on December 27 at 7 p.m.
For the first time, he is not only performing but also fully organizing the event himself, emphasizing both his artistic ambition and his strong sense of civic responsibility.
This major cultural initiative is supported by INSMAC and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, key partners in bringing this project to life.
The concert will present a rich musical journey from Scarlatti to contemporary works, with a particular spotlight on Moroccan heritage through pieces by composer Nabil Benabdeljalil.
Designed as both a celebration of musical diversity and a tribute to national creativity, the recital promises a unique dialogue between eras, styles, and cultures.
On the eve of the performance, Mahmoud will lead a piano workshop for INSMAC’s piano students. Following this educational session, selected participants will be invited to join him on stage during the concert, an exceptional opportunity for emerging Moroccan musicians to perform before a wide audience.
This pedagogical and inclusive approach reflects Mahmoud’s commitment to transmission, mentorship, and the democratization of classical music.
Beyond his musical talent, Mahmoud embodies an inspiring model for Moroccan youth. An engineer trained at the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine and holder of a Master’s degree in Management from EM Strasbourg Business School, he demonstrates that academic excellence and artistic passion can coexist and enrich one another.
His journey illustrates how perseverance can pave the way for multifaceted success.
Despite his young age, Mahmoud has already won numerous prestigious awards. He won first prize at Princess Lalla Meryem International Piano Competition in 2014 and 2016 (with two special mentions), and in 2018 received both the second prize and the Best Moroccan Talent Award from the Embassy of Portugal.
At only 15, he earned first prize from the Moroccan Ministry of Culture with highest distinction.
He later received the perfection and honor prize from the Conservatoire National de Musique et d’Art Chorégraphique du Maroc.
His achievements also include:
- Grand Prize, inaugural edition of Les Saisons Russes Festival (Casablanca, 2018)
- Yamaha Music Gulf Scholarship Program Winner (Dubai, 2019)
- Third Prize, 8th Young Classical Musicians Competition of Arab Countries (Baku, 2019)
