Marrakech – On Tuesday, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on its website its decision to lay off approximately 900 employees within its PlayStation division, constituting 8% of its global workforce.
Following this, it became the latest technology company to announce headcount trims.
In a recent blog post, Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, explained the rationale for the staff decrease and emphasized the company’s dedication to meeting the expectations of developers and gamers while improving future gaming technology.

There will be layoffs affecting personnel across all regions.
The London studio of PlayStation will close entirely, and several other studios are anticipated to be impacted.
Sony announced employment layoffs across the Americas, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific area, citing changes in the industry as a driving force behind the restructuring.
