Marrakech – The Embassy of Japan, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, has been hosting the exhibition “NINGYŌ: Art and Beauty of Japanese Doll” since January 7 at the Embassy’s Cultural Hall.

The exhibition is scheduled to conclude on January 23, and it features ornamental dolls showcasing both traditional and modern styles, meticulously crafted by today’s master artisans. 

Each doll carries its own story, reflecting the rich culture and spirit of the Japanese people. 

Visitors will encounter:

  • Hina dolls: Celebrating the Girls’ Day festival and representing the Imperial Court.
  • Boys’ day dolls: Depicting samurai and legendary heroes.
  • Traditional theater dolls: Representing characters from Kabuki theater and Bunraku puppetry.
  • Other dolls and figurines: Illustrating everyday life and traditional scenes from Japan.

The exhibition offers multiple opportunities for public visits, including special hours on select days:

January 17: 09 a.m. – 05 p.m.

January 19: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 03h p.m. – 05 p.m.

January 20: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 03h p.m. – 05 p.m.
