Rabat – Tanjazz returns to Tangier from September 18–20 September for its 23rd edition, reaffirming its identity as “the festival of jazz in Tangier.”

The event continues to embrace a broad and open vision of jazz, blending swing, blues, funk, flamenco, African grooves, and improvisation in a program that reflects the city’s multicultural heritage.

After the success of its 2024 edition, which gathered 59,000 attendees across 19 concerts in five landmark venues, the festival returns with an expanded experience combining heritage spaces, urban stages, and open-air performances.

First artists announced

Rodrigo y Gabriela

The Grammy Award-winning Mexican duo will perform on September 18 at Palais des Institutions Italiennes.

They are known for their explosive acoustic guitar style, mixing flamenco-inspired rhythms with rock energy and intricate percussion techniques.

After early busking years in Dublin, they rose to international prominence with albums such as Mettavolution, which earned them a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.

Their performances are marked by high intensity, technical precision, and a distinctive fusion of global influences.

Diego El Cigala

Performing on September 19 at the same venue, Diego El Cigala is a leading figure in contemporary flamenco who built a career spanning more than three decades, earning multiple Latin Grammy Awards and global recognition.

He is best known for Lágrimas Negras, his landmark collaboration with Cuban pianist Bebo Valdés, which fused flamenco with Cuban bolero and became an international success.

His work continues to explore the intersections of flamenco with Latin American musical traditions, defined by emotional depth and vocal power.

Tanjazz 2026 will once again unfold across multiple city spaces, offering concerts, dance workshops, food areas, and nightly jam sessions, reinforcing Tangier’s role as a cultural crossroads where music, heritage, and contemporary creativity meet.
