Casablanca – After several years away from the spotlight, Moroccan actor Jawad Essaih makes a comeback this Ramadan, featuring in two new social comedy projects.
The first is a TV movie titled “Al-Warta,” reportedly set to broadcast on 2M this Wednesday.
Directed by Moroccan actor and moviemaker Abdallah Ferkous, the story revolves around a character who suddenly finds themselves in a complicated situation and tries to get out of it, but each attempt leads to bigger problems, creating humor from everyday social clashes.
Essaih stars alongside Bouchra Hraich, Abdelkhalek Fahid, Charki Sarouti, and Fadila Benmoussa.
The actor also appears in “Al Khettaba,” set for a cinema release. It draws on the traditional Moroccan practice of matchmaking. The story follows a father attempting to marry for the second time, with his children opposing the idea, leading to a series of comedic situations.
Several faces from “Al-Warta” return, including Bouchra Hraich, Abdelkhalek Fahid and Fadila Benmoussa, creating a familiar ensemble while adding a few new actors.
This reunion marks another collaboration between Essaih and Ferkous, who have worked together in “Lfarrouj,” released in 2015.
Jawad Essaih’s return reminds audiences of his earlier works, including “Hdidan,” “Allal Al Kalda,” and “Moudawala,” which established him as a memorable face in Moroccan television.
His presence this season adds a familiar and welcome energy to the screen, especially in a Ramadan lineup full of competition.
