CasablancaCrocoparc Agadir will host the World Congress of Crocodile from May 11-19, bringing together more than 300 experts, researchers, and scientists from around the world.

This 28th edition marks the first time the event is held in North Africa, organizers said in a press statement. Organized every two years, the congress gathers specialists dedicated to the study, management, and conservation of crocodilian species.

Held under the theme “Crocodilians in an Anthropized World: Conservation, Challenges, and Solutions,” this year’s event will explore current scientific knowledge, highlight best practices in conservation, and examine how human activity continues to impact ecosystems.

The selection of Crocoparc Agadir followed a rigorous international process, placing it among leading hosts of previous editions such as Mexico in 2022 and Darwin, Australia in 2024. According to the organizers, this choice reflects the park’s growing role in scientific research, biodiversity preservation, and environmental awareness.

The congress is organized under the umbrella of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a global network that brings together governments, institutions, and civil society to promote nature conservation and sustainable development.

Beyond scientific discussions, the event will feature a diverse program including plenary sessions, specialized workshops, veterinary-focused meetings, and scientific poster presentations. Field visits and networking opportunities will also be part of the agenda, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants.

Through this upcoming congress, Crocoparc Agadir positions itself as a hub for scientific dialogue and cooperation in biodiversity conservation.

The event is also projected to highlight Agadir’s natural and cultural assets, while reinforcing Morocco’s presence in global efforts to protect endangered species.
