Casablanca – Casablanca’s Villa des Arts turns into a portal to Japan this Saturday, as Collectif 4.0 continues its Morocco, Land of Cultures monthly program with Manga F’lmdina.
Held in partnership with Fondation Al Mada, the event invites families to step into the world of manga and Japanese culture from 3-6 p.m. on the outdoor esplanade of Villa des Arts.
Following last month’s Colors of Morocco, which celebrated the richness and diversity of Morocco through its visual identity, this edition opens a new window onto another culture entirely: Japan.
Manga F’lmdina invites children and adults alike to discover manga not just as a form of storytelling, but as a creative language that blends art, imagination, and expression.
A journey inside the manga universe
Throughout the afternoon, visitors will move between origami and calligraphy workshops, and hands-on manga drawing sessions that introduce them to the basics of this expressive art form. Mangaka will be present throughout the event, creating personalized caricatures on the spot.
A face-painting area will let children step into manga characters visually, extending the experience beyond drawing into transformation.
At the heart of the event, a “swap your manga” corner will turn reading into exchange, inviting families to bring books they’ve already explored and trade them for new discoveries, in a shared cycle of storytelling and connection.
The immersion continues with a reading space open to all, Japanese games, martial arts demonstrations, and encounters with cosplayers, extending the experience beyond workshops into a living cultural universe.
A space for cultural openness
Throughout the event, Collectif 4.0 offers not only a space for entertainment but also a setting where different cultures intersect naturally. With each edition, the program moves from exploring aspects of Moroccan culture to opening the door to new universes, fostering a sense of cultural openness in children.
Each edition is built as an open invitation to experience culture through doing rather than observing. Children and families are placed at the center of the experience, where learning happens through drawing, making, exchanging, and interacting with different artistic forms.
At MAD 50 ($5) per family, the experience opens a shared space for children and adults to explore the world of manga together, while creating and sharing meaningful moments side by side.
